The Palatine Hill
The Palatine Hill
The city is known to have a very ancient history, and this hill is one of the best examples of that. When you look at mythology, what you see is that this hill is the starting point of the Roman Empire.
Another legend in mythology is that Romulus and Remus, known as twin brothers, were raised by a female wolf in a cave at the foot of the hill. Later, behind this hill, they laid the foundations of one of the world's greatest empires. And then these two brothers got into a fight, and they became so hostile, it went all the way to murder.
The Palatine Hill is located about 130 feet [40 m] from the Roman Forum, and it is a must-see for visitors. These two places can be visited with a joint ticket.
Important and must-see ruins on the hill are the House of Augustus, the Temple of Cybele, the Palace of Flavia, the Farnese Gardens and the Hippodrome.
