This is Han El-Ba'rur.
16 miles from Harran. Han El-Ba'rur, located in the southeastern village of Göktaş, dates back to the Ayyubid period. The caravanserai, located on the route of the Harran-Baghdad road in the mountainous region known as the Tektek Mountains, has all the characteristics of the Anatolian Seljuk caravanserais. According to the inscription on the entrance door, the caravanserai was built in 1219 by Haji Hussameddin Ali Bey, son of Jesus son of Imad. The word "Ba'rur", the name of the Khan, means "Goat Fertilizer" in Arabic. According to legend, the innkeeper filled it with raisins and served them to passing guests or those staying in the caravanserai. Looking to the future, he said, "Those who come after me will fill this place with goat manure". The structure fell into ruin after the Mongol invasion and was used as a stable by the local population for many years.
