The Old Hamam of Shahmeran
The Old Hamam of Shahmeran
The Shahmeran Baths, which are of great interest for their legends, were built by the sons of Ramazan on the foundations of the ancient Roman Baths. The historical structure, which has been renovated in various years, has the characteristics of a Turkish bath in terms of plan and dimensions. The dressing room at the entrance, the bathing area covered by a dome, and the ashlar sections complete the plan of the structure. The sections with the towers and the marble floor are striking. There are various accounts about the structure, which is the main venue of the Shahmeran legend, and it is believed that Shahmeran died in this bath. Visitors who come to see the building today are influenced by the architectural structure of the bath as well as the legends told.
