The Roman Bath
The Roman Bath
The Roman Bath of Tarsus, one of the buildings of the Roman Period, is almost contemporary with the Temple of Donuktes and was built with the same technique. Due to its large mass, a passage has been opened without damaging the architecture to facilitate access to the back neighborhoods. The remains of the artifacts visible today consist of two main blocks. There are two walls (3m thick and about 9m high) with an east-west axis and a south-north axis that also crosses it vertically. In the north-western part where these walls intersect, there is a porch covered with a dome. The structure was built with rubble stones using the Roman Concrete technique. Archaeological excavations have also revealed a pool in the porch, with a heating system (hypokaust) underneath.
